The Third Annual “Great Tapas Challenge”
at Tremont 647 Get Ready..Get set....Cook! On Monday, April 14th, beginning at 6:00pm, for the third year in a row, Tremont 647 will host a fun and exciting Tapas Challenge. Chef/Owner Andy Husbands will compete against special guest challengers, Chef Jason Santos (currently the reigning Champion), of Gargoyles on the Square and Chef Jamie Bissonnette of KO Prime in the Nine Zero Hotel. The evening will begin with a Passed Appetizer and Sangria Reception, featuring a secret Sangria recipe developed by the master mixologists of Tremont 647. Following the reception will be a 3 Course Sit-Down Tapas Dinner with each course consisting of three different tapas, one from each of the challengers. And here's the best part! Each guest gets to choose who will be dubbed Tapas King, by filling out a ballot for each dish throughout the competition!
The guidelines: 1. Each chef has been given the three main ingredients to create each of their dishes from. First Course is Shrimp, Second Course is Chicken, and Third Course is Pork. (Remember, this is not Iron Chef, no surprise main ingredient here!). 2. Each chef has been given strict monetary guidelines (to keep the playing field level.) 3. Each chef will serve one dish per course (total of three tapas size dishes per course) which will come out in rapid succession, and the chefs will rotate who goes first, second and third. 4. Each dish will be judged on Taste, Appearance, Creativity, and Best Overall.
Tapas [TAH-pahs] Popular throughout Spain in bars and restaurants, tapas are appetizers that usually accompany SHERRY or other APERITIFS or COCKTAILS.
The cost of this very special event is $49 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. Reception includes one glass of Sangria per guest. Full cash bar available throughout the evening.
